  • Pickering

    North York Moors Steam Railway

    Take a ride on the steam railway from Pickering all the way to Whitby.  You can hop off along the route at many beautiful villages including Gothland (Aidensfield in Heartbeat), Grosmont & Levisham.

    Beck Isle Museum

    Beck Isle Museum of Rural Life is a social history museum in Pickering. The museum features period business displays including the shops of a barber, blacksmith, chemist, cobbler, cooper, printer, gentleman's draper, dairy and hardware store.

    Pickering Castle

    This English Heritage 13th Century castle was once a royal hunting lodge and also a stud farm by a medieval succession of kings.

    Helmsley Walled Gardens


    Discover our vibrant borders, glasshouses, apple orchards and stop for a delicious lunch or coffee and homemade cake at The Vine House Café. Built in 1759, the garden sits beneath the imposing ruins of Helmsley Castle and has been welcoming visitors to North Yorkshire for over 25 years.

    The National Centre for Birds of Prey (NCBP) is a visitor attraction situated at the magnificent Duncombe Park estate  in Helmsley. Set within the world famous North York Moors National Park.

    Yorkshire’s only 25m heated open air pool. We are a Charity (1184090) providing affordable outdoor swimming and a ‘holiday atmosphere’ to our local community and many visitors. Nestling in the North York Moors National Park, our open air pool is in the heart of the countryside.

    Captain Cook Museum


    For ten years, Cook explored the unknown waters of the Pacific, South Atlantic and Arctic oceans.

    Cook learnt his seaman's trade in Whitby. The Museum is in the 17th-century house where he lodged as an apprentice when not at sea.

  • Scarbrough

    Scarborough Castle


    With its stunning location, fascinating history and panoramic views over the coast, Scarborough Castle is one of North Yorkshire’s finest historic sites.     Scarborough Open Air Theatre


    Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre was built by Scarborough Corporation in the 1930’s. The Lord Mayor of London opened the Open Air Theatre in Northstead Manor Gardens in 1932, and audiences flocked to see ‘Merrie England’, the first production to be staged at the outdoor venue.


    The theatre underwent a major refurbishment and on 20 May 2010, the newly refurbished Scarborough Open Air Theatre was officially opened by The Queen of the United Kingdom accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh.


    Since its official re-opening, the Scarborough OAT has played host to some of the music industry’s biggest stars, including Elton John, Britney Spears, Gary Barlow, Kylie, Noel Gallagher, Lionel Richie, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Biffy Clyro, Little Mix, Lewis Capaldi and many more.

    Peasholm Park


    Peasholm Park, voted 6th Best Park in the UK and 25th Best Park in the whole of Europe in the Trip Advisor Traveller's Choice Awards, is situated in Scarborough’s North Bay and is a must-see for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast.


    With a rich history and after having recently received a prestigious Green Flag Award, this oriental themed municipal park offers a beautiful system of streams and waterfalls, mini bridges and mystical gardens for the whole family to enjoy. The park is also home to the world famous Naval Warfare (July and August) – a unique miniature sea battle that has been shown on television screens across the globe!
